It’s A Mall World

The American Mall premiered this past Monday, but my eyes were too glued to the Olympics in hopes of catching a Ryan Lochte sighting. Before I knew it, the clock struck midnight and American Mall was over. I was in too much of a swoony swimmer haze to care, and besides, it’s an MTV production – you know how they love their repeats.

If you haven’t caught it yet, take an hour or two from your weekend to watch it. The New York Times thinks it’s worthy of your time, too: “American Mall” is to “High School Musical” as “The Little Mermaid” is to “The Mickey Mouse Club”: older, wiser, marginally sexier — and pretty wonderful.

While I did get to stand on the red carpet and chat with the mall rats, these pictures are far more professional and pleasing to the eye than mine were.

Nina Dobrev’s dress was designed by the winner of Canada’s Project Runway; Autumn Reeser was wearing white ruffles with fuschia heels – kind of like a grown-up girl’s version of Barbie shoes.

These yellow peep-toes looked picture-perfect with Brooke Lyons’s subdued navy party dress; although the pink + ruffles was a little much, Bianca Collins was the cutest thing around. She literally bounced down the carpet.

Although this babydoll number doesn’t look quite as spectacular in the snapshot, it had a wonderful taffeta sheen and adorable pink sequined circles; speaking of sequins, this mauve dress shimmered in the L.A. sun.

In New York City, Heidi Klum was just sparkling in her Kaufman Franco sheath dress while she promoted her Emmy-nominated show, Project Runway, on the Today Show. She paired her gorgeous dress with classic nude heels and simple jewelry.

Borrow a style tip from Heidi with your own sparkling minidress. This Chaiken Silver Sequined Cross Roads Shift Dress is perfect for an evening soiree. Pair it with these Colin Stuart Classic Peep-toe Pumps to elongate your legs. Finish your look with this Golden Clover Dangle Necklace by Heidi Klum.

Have a great weekend and don’t forget to come back on Monday to see the celeb look of the day!

After months of anxiously awaiting the return of our favorite fashion design reality show, Project Runway Season 5 finally premiered last night! This season is going to fierce and only those who can “make it work” will be in the final three who get to show their collections at Olympus Fashion Week. If you are like us and cannot wait until next Wednesday to get your Project Runway fill, make sure you check out www.projectrunway.com to get the latest dish on your favorite show!
Make sure you check out the designers bios–and learn about their fashion inspirations, education, and careers. This week’s winner, Kelli, was the one who made the cut; we said auf wiedersehen to Jerry who’s rainy day fun was stormed by the judges.
The best part is the auction! I am dying to get my hands on a Runway original. Make sure you bid in the online auction! Each week, the designs will be up for bid, so you can actually own your favorite piece from the challenge. Right now, Kelli’s winning dress constructed from hand-painted vacuum bags and coffee filters is currently leading the auction. Make sure you also check out Blayne’s and Daniel’s designs and place your bid!

You can also look through all the photo galleries see the behind-the-scenes action at Project Runway. Check out the designers as they learned about the first challenge and the finished designs on the runway. Look at all the designers hard at work in the workroom, the models getting their hair and makeup done,
sexy and tour the apartment. Make sure you also check out all the videos, where you can see the audition tape from the cutting room.

Lastly, make sure you keep up with the blog! It is updated continually with posts about this week’s guest judge, Austin Scarlett, information from the cutting room floor, and more. You can also shop for your favorite fan merchandise, like the Tim Gunn Bobblehead.

Now you’ll be the know-all about everything Project Runway!

You may want to cover your eyes because here come more changes for Project Runway. Variety reports Bunim-Murray is thisclose to signing on to produce when the show moves to Lifetime for season six. They’ve been talking to the Weinstein Co. for weeks about taking over the gig.

You know these producers — they’ve brought us the Real World, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Living Lohan, Bad Girls Club, Making the Band, and Born to Diva.

As much as we loved the first few seasons of the Real World, Bunim-Murray’s work as of late, namely Living Lohan and Keeping Up With the Kardashians, has not been our cup of tea. In fact, if we may be blunt, we’d rather eat paint chips than watch either of those shows for more than four minutes, and that’s saying a lot since we have zero shame in liking really bad TV. Then again, Making the Band did have its moments so maybe this isn’t the worst idea?

Oh, who are we kidding? We’re going to need extra therapy sessions when season six starts anyway.
