Gareth Moody Would Move to New York for the Right Woman

Aussie beach bum Gareth Moody was one of the original founders of Ksubi (formerly Tsubi) in 2000, earning a celebrity following for the brand’s signature denim. Six years later, he went solo, creating his own line of unisex clothing, Chronicles of Never. Tonight, Moody unveils his spring 2009 collection (titled Black Nøise White Rain) and original artwork at menswear lair Assembly. We caught up with him to talk about Japanese trends and what every guy needs in his closet.

The name Chronicles of Never is a reference to the tale of Neverland. Why?
It’s a metaphor for the boy who never grows up and never lands. It’s also a speculation on life and death. My clothing is fantastical and mystical, but it has a morbid layer to it as well.

What inspires the spring line, Black Nøise White Rain?
It’s actually inspired by obelisks and their use by ancient pagans. I liked the concept of designing tailored, Egyptian-esque clothing, mixing modern and old-world elements.

Your line includes androgynous pieces, like unisex denim. Do you see that as a burgeoning trend?
It seems to be. Certain pieces — the jewelry, shoes, and some of the shirts, jackets, and oversize garments — definitely cross over. It depends on the silhouette.

Any advice for non-models on how to pull off the androgynous look?
[Laughs] It’s tricky, it doesn’t suit every frame. I like to pair a slim-fitted bottom with an oversize, masculine top. But we’re actually going to be introducing a couple fits exclusively for girls.

What trends do you personally like for fall?
I’m not really a trends kind of guy; I like what I like. Pretty selfish, huh?

What trends do you wish would go away?
I was in Japan recently, and there was this resurgence of bright, neon colors. I prefer organic, muted pieces.

Ever consider moving to New York?
Maybe if I found the right woman, I would.

GQ nominated you as one of their “Stylish Men of the Year” last year. How would you describe your style?
I’m quite a casual fellow, nothing too obnoxious. My style is very simple.

What accessory do you have your eye on right now?
I really just wear my own products. I make the clothing for me — it’s based around my own likes and dislikes. I generally don’t buy designer items. I’m more likely to buy vintage.

Who are your favorite designers?
I like a lot of Japanese lines, like Number (N)ine, Undercover, and John Galliano is amazing.

What should every man have in his closet?
A good pair of jeans, a three-quarter boot, and a nice low-heeled dress shoe.

What one thing can’t you live without?
I get stir-crazy when I’m not near the ocean. I grew up surfing, and I swim a lot in Sydney. —Lauren Murrow

Chanel Paris-London 2008 Ad Campaign

Posted by: admin
July 23rd,
2008
OK, I know this post comes very late since this ad campaign is for Chanel’s Pre-Fall collection -the images have already been out since last December and have been published in June 2008′s magazines, (which we know means that they’ve out for years in fashion years,) but I just noticed the campaign seriously when I was in a Chanel boutique last week and saw the campaign booklet lying around. I saw the costume jewelry and I flipped through the booklet and fell in love with the campaign. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to honestly say I love an ad campaign but this one is absolutely stunning.

First off, I admit I simply do not know how to appreciate Amy Winehouse’s music and I dislike her beehive hairstyle even more. You know how a few designers have been using that beehive hairstyle on their runway shows? Well I hated most of them. But the way the Amy Winehouse inspiration has been used in this campaign has totally changed that messy look into something very elegant and sophisticated. Coco Rocha manages to pull off an elegant, young, sophisticated girly look with a hint of dark edginess. Just look at the images above!

Usually I hate it when the models are randomly holding many bags or wearing way too many accessories in ad images, but this campaign pulls it off seamlessly. It’s got a perfect balance of being gorgeously artistic and being commercial. I mean, after looking at it, I don’t only think it’s seriously captivating, I also really want a bunch of those accessories! This is definitely one of my favourite Karl Lagerfeld-photographed campaign!

I LOVE all the golden silver accessories -like this feather hair accessory and huge neckalce -it’s so glamorous in an uncomplicated way.

Bravo to Coco and Karl for pulling off this ad perfectly!

do remember the show where the mejeans was featured was weekend morning show with Debbye Turner. It took about weeks for the jeans to arrive and they fit perfectly. Kathleen 3rd, at pm ordered my Jeans on So guess he got the message. Got the same stupid emails you all got in about them being in the wash. Anyone else not received refund? Candice 15th, at pm My mom gave my sister and gift certificates to this website, thinking it would be fun design adventure.

PJ doesnt obviously make the jeans himself, they outsourced to another country give him break. finally got my butt in gear to order, did the measurements and picked my wash etc. On the same day sent in my measurements, the head guy, Sam Meeks, emailed me to ask for some clarification on some accessory choices had made, so felt cared for from the word go. Guess Ill never see those jeans.

truly hope my mom did not waste all that money. hope everyone who has left comment on here has reported this company to the FTC. have ordered over the web many many times and have never been disappointed. 23, received stall email in that said my audit had failed and they would be remaking jeans. We understand that lack of information is very unsettling and agree that it is unacceptable. If you really want true custom premium denim jeans for men and women just in time for the holidays. And they are amazing.

If you still havent heard from him, keep contacting him and let him know you have put in complaints to the FTC and attorney general and they both responded that they were going to contact him. got responses that they are investigating. Ordered Sandy Connie 20th, at pm How is everyone getting their money back? Please let me know the secret. fingers crossed. They never took my money in and Ive received nothing about the stage of my jeans or any of my questions, nada, zip, zero.

have requested refund MANY times and not received one. What scam! The Start Tribune had very flavorable write up on custom jeans sites and chose this one. This is not fraudulent company. When contacted UPS, they said they would help with the suite.I got pair of jeans from custom jeans maker, www. tailormadejeanswear. com and could nto have been more pleased. He did return my call once, he sounds like very nice scammer! Saying everything needed ti hear and very sorry for the problems.
